Online Roulette Systems and Strategies – Part 1: Know Your Chances of Winning

Roulette is a game of science rather than luck. Though you can play it based on chance, understanding the nature of this game and using strategic thinking can significantly enhance your chances of winning. There are several betting systems that can improve your odds of winning in roulette, as discussed below.

The d’Alembert System: Bust-High/Big Win-Low

Jean Baptiste d’Alembert’s betting system is based on the idea that a winning bet has a lower chance of winning the next time and vice versa. In this system, you start with an even bet and increase your wager by one unit after every loss. However, it could also lead to a greater loss with every loss and higher chances of going bankrupt.

The Reverse d’Alembert System: Bust-Medium/Big Win-Medium

This system is the reverse of the d’Alembert system. It requires doubling your stake for every win and halving it for every loss on even money bets like odd/even resulting in stable wins with a lucky streak.

The Martingale System: Bust-Low/Big Win-Low

The Martingale system is the most popular betting strategy in roulette. It features a high probability of winning ensuring all loses are recovered by doubling all previous bets. Though this almost guarantees a win, it could take some time to get there, and the player must have enough funds to continue playing until the win.

The Reverse Martingale System: Bust-High/Big Win-High

This strategy is for those who prefer high-risk bets enabling significant wins. In this system, you double your stake after each win and stop once you lose. It requires self-control as you can lose all progress made through greed.

The Labouchere System: Bust-Low/Big Win-Low

Also known as the Split Martingale or Cancellation strategy, this system entails creating a list of positive numbers ending with the winning number and betting the sum of the first and last numbers on the list. If you win, cross out those numbers, and move to the next pair. For every loss, add lost wagers to the list’s end and start over.

The Reverse Labouchere System: Bust-Medium/Big Win-High

This system is a positive progression betting strategy that enables players to make gradual profits while minimizing losses. Similarly, if you win, add the amount you won to the end of your list then restart. However, players must remove the first and last numbers from the list once they lose and begin a new one after eliminating all numbers.

The Fibonacci System: Bust-Low/Big Win-Low

This betting strategy uses the Fibonacci sequence to wager one unit and subtracts two steps from the previous sequence after each win and adds it after each loss.

The Reverse Fibonacci System: Bust-High/Big Win-High

This system is the reverse of the Fibonacci betting strategy. For every loss, continue following Fibonacci’s sequence. But after a win, you add two steps instead of subtracting.
